Company Details
Basic information about your company.
Your legal or trade business name. Do NOT include commas.
Full street address including city, state/province, and zip/postal code.
Your company's country of operation.
Preferences
Settings for labor tracking and pay periods.
Average number of hours your field team clocks per day. Used for labor calculations.
The most common hourly labor rate you use. This is just a preset that auto-populates when building estimates and change orders — you can change it on every estimate.
Enter the start date of your next pay period. This initiates pay period tracking in the system.
How often you run payroll.
Finance
Default markup and tax rates applied to estimates and change orders. These are just defaults — you can change them at the project level and on every single row of an estimate, change order, or expense.
Default markup percentage applied to material costs.
Default markup percentage applied to labor costs.
Default markup percentage applied to subcontractor/trade costs.
Your local tax rate. Leave this blank if tax does not apply to your work. If left blank, also uncheck both defaults below.
These defaults auto-check the tax checkbox when entering costs. Uncheck both if tax does not apply.
Unit Types
"Hr" is required and cannot be removed (used for time tracking). The other defaults (Lot, Sq. Ft., Ln. Ft., Pce.) can be removed. Add any custom unit types you use for estimating.
List each unit type on its own line. Format: Name - Description. The current defaults are Hr, Lot, Sq. Ft., Ln. Ft., and Pce.
Project Types
Required. Enter the standard types of projects your company runs. You can edit these anytime.
List each project type on its own line.
Positions
Enter the job titles/positions that exist in your company. These are assigned to team members.
List each position on its own line.
Team Members
Enter every person who needs access to Buildwise. Each person gets a role that controls what they can do in the system. Fill in as many slots as you need — leave the rest blank. You can also do this from the company settings page right in Buildwise.
Roles explained:
Owner — Account owner. Full access including closing the account. Cannot be reassigned.
Administrator — Full access to settings, members, projects, estimates, reports, and QuickBooks integration. Typically a co-founder, GM, or anyone who needs full access.
Manager — Can create and manage projects. Desktop and mobile access. No access to company settings, members, or QuickBooks integration.
Member — Mobile app access to track time, capture receipts, and manage daily logs and schedules. Limited desktop access (schedules and job logs).
